Self Guided Tours - Lycia Olympos Area

DESCRIPTION

Self guided LYCIAN HIKE Çıralı (8 days, 7 nights) 

Available Late March to mid May and mid September to early November

The Lycian Way is Turkey’s first long distance footpath exploring the coastal region between Fethiye and Antalya. Our route covers most of the best walks of the Eastern section starting in Ovacik and finishing near Gelidonia Light House. The highlights include ancient ruined cities, spectacular coastal views, walking through Mt Olympos and Mt Moses and Cirali and Adrasan beaches.

ITINERARY

Day 1. Transfer

Antalya Airport-Ovacik. Dinner and introduction.

Day 2. Walk Ovacik – Gedelme- (lunch) –  Yayla Kuzdere (6hrs)
Transport Yayla Kuzdere – Ovacik

THE WALK starts from the hotel, We walk on the high terrain with the views of Mt Olympos (Tahtali Mountain). We have lunch in Gedelme in a restaurant. CAfter exploring the castle in the village we continue to walk in the forest to the village of Yala Kuzdere where we will be transferred back to our hotel.

Day 3. Walk Yayla Kuzdere –Mount Olympos pass –Beycik (7hrs)
Transport Ovacik- Yayla Kuzdere ,Beycik- Cirali

THE WALK stays high traversing the slopes of Mt Olympos (Tahtali Mountain). Spectacular views of the holy mountain will take us to the pass which is 2000 meters. We will be descending down to Cirali through cedar and pine forest. Transfer to Cirali at the end of the day, our home for the next 3 nights.

Day 4. Walk Beycik – Ulupinar - Chimera- Cirali (5hrs)

Transport Cirali - Beycik

THE WALK is from mountains down in to the Mediterranean. We first walk on the skirts of Taurus Mountains down in to Ulupinar where we will have lunch. We continue to walk through a nice valley where we will see the eternal flames of Chimera. Last part of the hike will be down to sea level in to Cirali.

Day 5. Free day in Cirali with optional visit to ancient site Olympos

Today is a free day in Cirali. Optional hike to the famous site of Mt Olympos. You can just relax by the sandy beach of Cirali or just enjoy our hotel and environs.

Day 6. Walk Olympos- Adrasan (7hrs)

THE WALK first follows the beach and ascends in to the forest to the high pastures of Mount Moses (Musa Mountain). After having lunch by the shepherd hut we walk down in to Adrasan following the trail in the forest.

Day 7. Walk Adrasan- Gelidonia Light House-Karaoz

Transport –Karaoz – Adrasan

THE WALK follows the old shepherd trail. We are mostly walking in the forest with the spectacular views of water. We will enjoy the old lighthouse before heading down in to the dirt road where weil meet our vehicle to be transferred to Adrasan. .

INCLUDED: All transport during the walking program, 7 nights accommodation, full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner), drinks with picnic lunch, bottled water, entrance fees to historical sites.

NOT INCLUDED: Drinks at hotels or restaurants.

WHAT TO BRING: WALKING
Hiking boots or strong shoes with good tread and ankle support, shorts and t-shirt (warm weather), fleece, waterproofs, day pack (35ltr. + -), walking trousers, long sleeved top, sun protection- hat, sunglasses, sun cream, insect repellant, walking poles recommended,

beach towel, swim kit.

Main Baggage is transferred on to next nights’ accommodation

WEATHER

SPRING

In April daytime temps reach the low twenties (centigrade), mostly sunny but still chances of rain. In May the temperature rises to late twenties and less chance of rain.

Evenings can still be quite cool in early April.

AUTUMN

From mid September through October, mainly sunny day with temps in mid twenties and warm evenings cooling down later in the season.

WALKING DURATION
